Join me on a virtual Art Safari trip to Tuscany, I’ll be working in conjunction with Mary-Anne Bartlett and her wonderful team at Art Safari to bring you the best possible Virtual Holiday experience! Let’s meet up online and spend four fabulous days painting the incredible mountains and villages of North Western Italy.
Tuition will include lessons on painting mountain scenery and how to capture nature’s beautiful colour harmonys in your paintings
How does it work?
Day 1: Meet me on Zoom for three hours of demonstration and tuition time which will include advice on painting mountains
I’ll show examples of my paintings of the area
You will have the option to paint from a variety of images to suit your taste from a library of photos you will receive as part of the course package.
I’ll include a slide talk on the work of the wonderful Macchialioli, known as the Italian Impressionists, to get us inspired.
You will have time in between session to complete your work and submit images of your paintings for feedback on our private Facebook group.
Day 2: We will meet again the following afternoon to tackle a second painting through the same process. Tuition will include finding colour harmonies in nature and tackling buildings.
Day 3: The third day is free for you to paint all day.
Day 4: At 2pm we’ll hold a final short meeting (around an hour) to review and share your work and insights from the course.
The workshop will be recorded and you will be able to watch the video online afterwards.
It’s going to be fantastic - and we have the perfect excuse to indulge in two days of delicious Italian themed food and drink to get us in the mood - I’ll send you some fabulous recipes from the region for those who want to really get into the spirit of Toscana!
What you will need:
A laptop, Macbook, PC, iPad or tablet
An assortment of paint brushes, suitable for your medium in different shapes and sizes
I’ll work in oils but you may use any medium - I often work with a simple, ‘double primary’ palette comprised of Cadmium Lemon yellow, Cadmium Yellow Golden, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalocyanine Blue Lake or Cerulean Blue, for this workshop Yellow Ochre and Transparent Oxide Red may also be useful. This course isn’t specifically about colour, so just use colours you are familiar with and those you already have.
